About Me/Us

My passion for handmade items developed since my childhood, growing up with my grand aunts taught me to value taking the time to make things from scratch and to feed your soul in the process. Not only does this encourages conversation with others, but everything has my thoughts and feelings ingrained in each object I make.  I hope you can take the time to enjoy it and appreciate it as I do. For example, my pottery can serve two purposes, to use for serving food, display flowers or plants to admire or to convert into a container for my handmade candles. The soy wax I use is environmentally friendly, it emits less carbon dioxide, which means less toxins. It burns cooler and last longer, eliminating odors, not masking them, making your spaces more pleasant.

My candles, Art and roasted coffee are unique because my life experiences have taken me where I am now, to be able to enjoy seeing my dreams come true. Although the transition between dreaming, doing and making was not an easy one, it was worth the wait. I invite you to visit my gallery and try to imagine what took place behind the scenes, creating something for you to hold in your hands.

I’ve always admired seeing transformation of materials, from soft clay to rock, then to crystalized glazes that delight the eye. In turn, the process also transforms me, it teaches me patience, resilience and perseverance. The waiting time for the wet clay pieces to dry, the time to do the first firing or bisque as it’s called. Finally, applying the glazes for a final firing; in total, it’s about two days drying plus about 6 hrs. each of the firings. All of these don’t warranty a good outcome, the pieces may break, or the color doesn’t come the way you expected to be. It’s important to mention that if weather doesn’t cooperate, the drying time can be longer.

When it comes to my roasted coffee, I see it as an Art as well. Drinking coffee is an experience, a moment to slow down and to reconnect with others or with ourselves. The roasting process also involves a transformation, from raw coffee beans to roasted beans; the aroma goes to my brain, it stimulates a good feeling sensation. Our signature blend is the Kenyan/Colombian which symbolizes our love, between my husband Carl and I. Besides, the logo is the picture of our daughter Andrea when she was 10 years old, now 30. As she put it once, the perfect blend.
